I used edible glitter made by rainbow dust, the colour was jewel fire red. I basically used modelling paste to make the shoes left them to dry out, painted them all over with glue made from tylo and then I shook, pressed, and painted the glitter on to them. It took a while but I was pretty happy with the end result. But it gets everywhere!!!
Thanks for the positive comment on my work.

Hi Catherine

I was looking at your Wizard of Oz cake on Flickr, and was wondering what you used for the glitter on the ruby slippers. Really awesome cake by the way =)

Thanks,

I used a madeira sponge, and I froze the cake for about 12 hours before I carved it, this makes it easier to carve as it's less crumbly. I hope this helps. Catherine

Your first carved cake? This is really impressive!
I've just been asked to do a fish cake for a friend of mine, what type of sponge would you recommend I use?

Hi Catherine,
Your cakes are fabulous!
I especially love the shark cake. I'd love to know, did you use a 3D cake tin for this or did you carve it by hand?
Thanks for the inspiration,
Annie
